Miss Trévelez tells the story that happens in a provincial capital, where a group of jokers form the Guasa Club, dedicated to play pranks and have fun at the expense of doing harm to others. One of those jokes is to let lady Trevélez, who is a neighbor of mature age, tasteless and not very blessed by nature, believe that Numeriano Galán is in love with her. To do this, Tito Guiloya, ringleader of the club, has written a letter pretending to be Galán. In this way, Florita Trevélez, who have always dreamed of finding true love, is deceiving herself in such a way that she even fantasizes with the wedding. Don Gonzalo, her brother, is very satisfied to see his beloved sister so happy.
Galán, who does not love Florita at all, pretends the whole farce for fear of a clash with Don Gonzalo, who has the reputation of a strongman and under no circumstances allows no one to cause any damage to his sister. Picavea, another member of the Guasa Club, gets in the middle, declaring to Florita another feigned love.
Thus, everything gets complicated: Numeriano and Picavea, feignedly, decide dueling for the “love” of Florita. Don Gonzalo, who is not convinced of the intentions of Picavea and believes that he only wants to spoil the love of Florita and Galán, also decides dueling Picavea.
Due to this, Guiloya has other plans and intends to continue with the charade. Galán and Picavea realize the damage they are causing and decide to tell the truth to Don Gonzalo; he is initially angry, but soon after he assumes it with disappointment and bemoans how unfair life is.
