Where crimes meet psychological complexity
In World of Shadows, the investigation opened by the disappearance of an Italian tourist, causes a cataclysm among those who surrounded her in recent days. Among them, a group of young people who are fed up with the miserable Cuban situation are abandoned in a frenzy of sex, alcohol and self-aggressive actions.
The case is entrusted to Lieutenant Julio César Sánchez, a policeman who feels fear of failure, and knows that before discovering the truth he needs to find a guilty, and for that he does not hesitate to use the wildest methods to find one, and in passing save his neck. Unmerciful chronicle of a people that faces the failure of the collective illusion that sustained the Cuban revolution, and that shows us the different ways in which the characters face the dead end that life on the island means. And to do this, it draws on the violence unleashed among the bureaucrats, the police forces, and even the nihilist violence to which young people are abandoned to, who, faced with a very dark future, prefer to indulge in an orgy without return.
A violent story, but beautiful, full of sex, but also sensitive, which hooks you from the beginning to the last line.
In Project in Black, years after Bianca Rossana Micussi’s disappearance, Captain César Sánchez is re-hired in La Ciudad in order to work on the death of Cuco Mondongo; a pauper whose corpse was found in strange circumstances.
Colonel Hernández Padrón feels that Sánchez fits in the required profile to solve the mystery. However, Sánchez has to work along with Lázaro Andrés, a lieutenant whose refined personality totally contrasts with Sánchez’s.
In order to enter in The Project, captain Sánchez is aware of the fact that he needs to succeed in the mission. To achieve so, he makes use of his old technique; the one which helped him in other past cases.
RELEVANT FACTS: Project in Black breaks with the tradition of detective stories. Lunar gives complexity to his characters: they step away from those archetypes based on psychological simplicity.
