Alfredo Sanzol is a Spanish director and playwright. He studied Law at the Universidad de Navarra and Stage Directing at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático of Madrid. He is a member of the Asociación de Directores de Escena of Spain, and of the SGAE (the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers).
He has taught courses and workshops at La Casa de América, La Casa Encendida, the Teatro Nacional de Bogotá, Matadero-Madrid, the Sala Beckett, the Escuela Navarra de Teatro, the Sociedad General de Autores, the Festival de Teatro Clásico de Olite and the Centro Dramático Nacional.

Alfredo Sanzol has been awarded with the most prestigious distinctions for a Spanish playwright, such as: the Premio Max de las Artes Escénicas in three occasions. He has also received the Premio Valle-Inclán de Teatro and the Premio Ceres al Mejor Autor Teatral. His work La Respiración was awarded with the Premio Nacional de Literatura “for the structure of a plot as open as it is compact, with solid characters who evolve dramatically and that move in a renewed sentimentality.”
