César Mallorquí

Scenic Rights is the audiovisual co-agency of César Mallorquí.

César Mallorquí is one of the most awarded Spanish writers and journalists, and he is also an advertising creative and scriptwriter for radio and television shows. He is the son of writer José Mallorquí, creator of the famous literary character The Coyote (El Coyote).

Mallorquí studied journalism at the Complutense University, Madrid. At just seventeen years of age, he was collaborating on the very renowned magazine La Codorniz, and a few years after that he was already working as a scriptwriter for a popular radio show in Cadena Ser.

He has an extensive career as a reporter, advertising creative and television screenwriter with various production companies. His works are influenced by great authors such as Jorge Luis Borges and Ray Bradbury, among others.

He has more than twenty five literary prizes, some to highlight are: the National Children and Young Adult Award, the Cervantes Chico Award for his work in the youth genre, the Edebe Young Adult Literature Award (won on four occasions, the Gran Angular Award, the White Raven Award (also won on four occasions) or the Hache Award, among others.

His saga Las crónicas del parásito (The Parasite Chronicles) has sold over 35.000 copies just in Spain. His most famous novel, Las lágrimas de Shiva (The Shiva’s Tears) is a compulsory reading in several Spanish schools and highschools and has sold over 600.000 copies –an absolute long-seller–. The sequel, El círculo escarlata (The Scarlett Circle) was published in 2020 and was an absolute success both in the media and bookshops, with over 20.000 copies sold in just a few months.

One of his most popular novels has been named a fundamental work by the International Board on Books for Young People.
