Jacinto Benavente

Scenic Rights is the audiovisual co-agency of Jacinto Benavente.

Jacinto Benavente (Madrid, 1866) is a Spanish playwright, essential in the process of European theatre renovation in the early XXth century. His plays first premiered at Madrid, were then produced in the main European capitals and in the most important theatres in Latin America. Honorific Member of the Royal Spanish Academy, in 1918 he had a seat in the Spanish Parliament; in 1922 the Swedish Academy awarded him the Nobel Prize in Literature.

 

INTERESTING FACTS

In 1947 he was named Honorific President of The International Confederation of Authors and Composers Societies. 

The Swedish Academy awarded Benavente the NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE (1922).

In 1924 he received the keys to the city of Madrid, and the Great Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X, the wise. In 1926 he received the keys to the city of New York.
