Graduated in Anthropology, Maite Carranza is a writer, screenwriter and teacher. She was a Language and Literature teacher in a high school until she published her first young adult novel that received the Crítica Serra D’Or Award, and decided then to focus on literature. Although she is specialized in children and young adult literature, she has also written novels for adults.
At the beginning of the nineties, she had already published around twenty books, and it was then when she started her career as a screenwriter. She has worked in several TV shows and series, such as Isabel, Pinnic or Abuela de verano for TVE, the Spanish Public Television, or Poblenou, Secrets de Familia, Rosa, or El cor de la Ciutat, for the Catalan Public Television, TV3. In her work, she combines her transgressive and fresh humor with social denunciation and fantasy. Some of her works have been adapted to the theatre.
War of witches is the super bestseller trilogy that made her internationally famous, having sold over 800 thousand copies in 25 countries.

She has published over 50 books and she has the Edebé Award, the Templo de las mil puertas Award, the Crítica Serra d’Or Award, the National Young Adult Literature Award, the Banco de Libros de Caracas Award and the FADA Award.
She has also been awarded twice with Joaquim Ruyra Young Adult Narrative Award. She has also received the Cervantes Chico Award to her career, the Young Protagonist Award to the best young adult novel, the Vaixell de Vapor Award and the White Raven Award, given by the Jugend Library of Munich also twice, among others.
As a screenwriter, she received the National Television Award for the series Isabel for TVE, the Spanish Public Television, apart from the Antena de Oro, the Iris Award, the Ondas Award to best fiction for the same series. Previously, the GAC Award for telefilm script, the National Arts Award, the TP Award and the International Ondas Award, among others.
