Martín Solares is a Mexican writer, journalist, critic, and editor. He holds a Ph.D. in Iberian and Latin American Studies from the Sorbonne University in Paris. He has contributed to Mexico’s cultural press, including outlets such as La Jornada.
Solares is the author of novels, essays, and children’s books. He currently balances his literary work and journalism with teaching in various workshops.

He has received numerous awards, such as the Efraín Huerta National Literature Prize (1998), the Juan de la Cabada National Children’s Story Prize (2008), the Best Mystery Novel Prize at the International Latino Awards (2009), and the José Revueltas Fine Arts Prize for Literary Essay (2016).
Additionally, he has been a finalist for prestigious honors, including the Rómulo Gallegos Prize (2007), the Antonin Artaud Prize (2008), the Bibliothèque des Littératures Policières Prize (2009), and the Prix Violet Noir for Best Foreign Crime Novel Published in France for his work Don’t Send Flowers.
