Mayra Montero is an internationally acclaimed Cuban-Puerto Rican journalist and author. She started her career as journalist in Puerto Rico at the age of 20, writing social chronicles. She continued her career writing sport articles and working as correspondent in Central America and the Caribbean.
She started her literary career at a very early age, influenced by her father, who used to be a TV scriptwriter and humorist. With over a dozen literary works published, Montero earned the respect of the critics and thousands of loyal readers who highly appraise her novels. She is considered as an outstanding author of the current Caribbean literature.

Mayra Montero’s works have been internationally successful, with editions all throughout the world, including the USA, Spain, France, Germany and Italy, among many others.
She was named the Doctor Honoris Causa Distinction of the University of Puerto Rico, and was awarded several literary prizes, like the Premio Barco de Vapor Puerto Rico, the Premio Sonrisa Vertical, and the Literaturpreis, besides being finalist to the Premio Herralde and the Premio Sonrisa Vertical.
