Rómulo Gallegos

Scenic Rights is the audiovisual co agency of Rómulo Gallegos.

Rómulo Gallegos was a prominent Venezuelan novelist, politician, and educator, considered one of the most important writers of 20th-century Spanish-American literature. He achieved international renown with the publication of Doña Bárbara and became the president of Venezuela in 1947. Overthrown by a military coup, he continued writing from exile until his return to the country years later. He was the first president of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

Doña Bárbara is considered the central novel of Venezuelan literature. He received the National Literature Prize of Venezuela, was named Doctor Honoris Causa by Columbia University, and was nominated nine times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. In his honor, the Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize was created.
