When John Brenner wakes up on the floor, with an empty bottle in his hand and the lifeless body of a young woman beside him, he knows he has only two options: turn himself in to the police or run. But when the body vanishes without a trace, uncertainty consumes him. Is he really a killer, or is there something else behind all of this? He soon discovers he’s not alone—there are others like him, trapped in the same nightmare. And this is just the beginning of a fast-paced thriller that will challenge his own sanity.
John Brenner, a former alcoholic, wakes up on the floor of his house next to an empty vodka bottle, a revolver… and the corpse of an unknown woman. And he remembers absolutely nothing.
Terrified and confused, he sets out to get rid of the bottle. On his way through the nearby forest, he finds an empty van with a monitor showing images of his own living room. He returns immediately, but as if nothing had happened, the body and the weapon are gone. Doubt haunts him: is he a murderer, or has someone set him up?
As days pass, John becomes convinced he’s being framed. But who would want to see him in prison? His life has been hard: alcoholism, his parents’ illness, a divorce, a daughter he barely sees—but he has no enemies. In search of answers, he turns to the only person who’s always been by his side: his brother Mark, owner of the powerful pharmaceutical company Meditek. Mark tries to convince him it was all a hallucination.
However, John’s nights are filled with nightmares featuring the dead woman in the blue dress, who guides him through a dark forest, whispering a chilling phrase: “You’ve forgotten something.” At first, he blames it on his traumatized subconscious… until he finds an article online titled: “Have you dreamed of the girl in the blue dress? You’re not the only one.”
With the help of his brother and closest friends, John sets out to uncover the truth. But things take a terrifying turn when he receives devastating news: Mark has committed suicide.
The clues lead to a disturbing discovery: everyone who has dreamed of the woman in the blue dress worked at Meditek. His brother’s company developed a serum that induces temporary amnesia and which, in the wrong hands, could have catastrophic consequences—possibly even starting a war. Paula Marrel, the woman found dead in his house, had documents about the product that she intended to expose.
But there’s more: Paula is the woman in the blue dress. She appeared in the videos shown to test subjects during the serum trials at Meditek to assess memory loss.
On the day she died, Paula went to John’s house to reveal a crucial secret about his past. Before doing so, she asked him to take the amnesia pill. John agreed. Then Paula showed him a video of a confession from Mark: he had killed their mother when she, gravely ill, begged him to. But it was their father who took the blame.
Before Paula could say more, a gunshot rang out in the room. Paula dropped dead. John lost consciousness.
John ends his journey without clear answers about his brother’s suicide or the conspiracy behind Meditek. He is left with a single purpose: to rebuild his life, just as Mark asked him to in the letter he left behind. He reunites with his daughter. And alongside Maggie, his friend and confidante, he begins a new chapter… But each night, Paula still appears in his dreams.
However, in an epilogue, the reader learns the full truth: Paula was killed by Kate Spellman, an undercover agent who had infiltrated Mark’s life, pretending to be his wife for years to obtain information about the serum. She eliminated Paula to bury the truth. But now, a new possibility arises: did Mark always know she was an undercover agent? Could the suicide letter contain a hidden message? We may never know… or maybe we will.
