Charlie Barrington is in the street, next to his house, talking with Sgt. Harris, while waiting for the detective Douglas Hilton. They listen Carlota, Charlie’s wife, playing the piano in the house. When the detective arrives, they knock on the door, but Carlota’s delay in opening worries them, and they force the door open. When they enter, they find her dead. But no one went out or entered the house, they were downstairs. Who killed Carlota and how?
