A powerful story of complex human relationships underpinned by power, humiliation, dignity and sex
Marcos’ routine, diligent and withdrawn student of Fine Arts, is interrupted by the arrival in his small city of the famous Jacobo Montes, the great social artist nowadays, whose transgressive work intends to be a denunciation of contemporary capitalism. Almost by chance, Marcos has become his first assistant, and with him, he will learn to look with brand-new eyes at reality, especially the problem of immigration, the subject on which Montes intends to work in the city. An entire experience of initiation that will not end as Marcos had imagined. Montes' methods are at the limit of what is permissible. And when theory is put into practice, things can be at risk of getting out of hand. In that moment, art becomes a grotesque and dangerous game. A deep and poisoned criticism of the most radical contemporary art and the cynical attitude hidden behind certain "committed" artistic practices.

The author´s first novel, Escape Attempt, was published by Anagrama in March 2013 and won the Ciudad de Alcalá Award in 2014. His last novel, The Feeling of Danger, has been finalist of the 33rd Herralde Award, won by important authors such as Roberto Bolaño, and will be published in November 2015.
