Maribel is a prostitute who meets Marcelino, a young naive man who is looking for a girl to marry so he can overcome a tragic event of his past. He lives with his aunt, Paula, and his mother, Matilde, two charming and clever ladies. Marcelino, fully in love with Maribel, accommodates her in his house with his family. There, everyone takes her in innocently, unconscious of her true occupation. And so begins a story of secrets in a sitcom style.
RELEVANT FACTS: Its popularity resulted in two films: José María Forqué’s versión in 1960, and Ángel Blasco’s version in 2002.
Mihura, a playwright, journalist and screenwriter, is considered the main inventor of the Theatre of the Absurd, and the most outstanding comedian in Spanish language through the 20th century. Mihura wrote the scripts of more than twenty-five movies, among which stands out Welcome Mr. Marshall, film directed by Luis García Berlanga in 1952.
