A city divided by a river. The population separated by their ethnic origins. One bridge as the rallying point.
The Rios are an established local family of Mexican origins who work on the building of the Los Angeles River bridges. Due to the rapid social changes the city is experiencing, Otchoo Ríos, the chief of the company, sees himself forced to hide his Latino origins to avoid the emergent racial discrimination.
On the other hand, the Kellers, of Anglo origins, arrive to California looking for new opportunities to expand their wealth. They establish a building company of their own, thus becoming the main rival of the Ríos.
Even though each family has a particular ethnic, social and linguistic origin, their lives are joined together through the love affair between their children. This link ends in a tragedy due to the big presence of racism and eugenics in the 1950s.
The building of the bridges over Los Angeles River implied a change in the history of the city; they do not only serve as a current transport route, but also as a link to the past times and to the beginning of the development of the city, as well as a memory of all those people from different ethnicities that bet their lives for their construction.
