After the war, a group of political refugees (Goldmann, Silvano, Ana, Isabel, Carlos, a peasant…) escapes from an imaginary country called Surelia. While staying in a hostel, Isabel is murdered while the rest of the group is sleeping. From this moment on, reality and dreams mix up. In an oneiric dimension where all of them are dreaming at the same time, Isabel appears to all and gives some clues. Back in reality, Carlos will look for Isabel’s murderer in order to kill him.
RELEVANT FACTS: This is a story of suspense ad political intrigues, in which different characters living in this microcosm interact. It also has an important ingredient of mystery: an unresolved crime. The play was censored for having a character that is a dictator.
Buero Vallejo is the great theatrical author of the twentieth century. He won the Premio Miguel de Cervantes (1986) and the Premio Nacional de las Letras Españolas (1996). In addition, he has received in four occasions the Premio Nacional de Teatro and also the Honorary Max Theatre Award, among many other distinctions.
