Mónica Ojeda is a prominent writer specializing in novels, poetry, and short stories. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication with a focus on Literature from the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil. Additionally, she has a Master’s degree in Literary Creation from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and another Master’s in Theory and Criticism of Culture.
She has worked as a Literature professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters, and Education Sciences of the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil.

Mónica Ojeda’s work has been recognized both nationally and internationally, with notable participation in international book fairs and favorable critical acclaim. She was selected for the Bogotá 39-2017 list as one of the 39 best Latin American fiction writers under 40. In 2021, Granta magazine named her one of the 25 best Spanish-language storytellers under 35.
Her literary career includes significant achievements such as the 2014 ALBA Narrativa Prize, the 2015 Desembarco National Poetry Prize, an honorable mention in the Miguel Donoso Pareja Short Novel Award, a finalist position for the 2018 Mario Vargas Llosa Biennial Novel Award, and the Next Generation Prize from the Prince Claus Fund in 2019.
