When two worlds (literally) collide.
Nina Chou is a young woman of Chinese origin in Madrid. For some time now, Nina has been feeling the need to find herself, as opposed to doing everything her traditional family expects her to do. Determined, satirical and a bit of a mess, Nina lives with her parents, who can’t wait for their daughter to get married, going so far as to arrange endless blind dates for her with young, exemplary Chinese suitors, which Nina reluctantly attends.
However, Nina plays the role of a good daughter: she works nights at her parents’ Chinese restaurant and days at her sister’s hair salon… or so she makes everyone think.
Her big secret is that she runs away to study chemistry at the university during the day, blatantly deceiving her parents.
This is when Ruben appears, a geeky mathematician Nina has developed a crush on, and who will help her see the best and worst of their very different cultures.
Overcoming racial and cultural prejudices, Nina must find a way to fulfill her own dreams without disappointing her parents.
