Everything We Don’t Say | Everything We Don’t See
What happens if you get recruited for an experiment to turn your unbearable boss into a better person… and end up falling for him? And what if you realize that your best friend and coworker might actually be the perfect boyfriend? All this and more unfolds in these two romantic comedies set in the same universe: Eventos Luxe, an event planning company where boredom simply doesn’t exist.
Eventos Luxe is a prestigious event planning company. From grand parties for major brands and corporate events to weddings and communions, whatever you want to celebrate, Eventos Luxe seems to have the magic formula to make it perfect. If only that magic worked for its employees too. Well… maybe it can, right?
Each book in the series follows different protagonists, but they are always employees of Eventos Luxe.
In Everything We Don’t Say, Carla works in the Grand Events department at Eventos Luxe and desperately needs a break. Her recent breakup has left her emotionally drained, and her boss, Héctor, isn’t making things any easier—he’s unbearable, irritable, and has spent months firing every assistant because none of them meet his impossible standards.
Max, Héctor’s best friend and the company’s HR manager, comes up with a plan: assign Carla as Héctor’s new assistant, convinced she won’t let him walk all over her. To ensure her survival, he even makes Héctor sign a clause preventing him from firing her. Carla takes on the challenge, and from day one, Héctor tests her patience with absurd demands. But she fires back with sarcasm and small acts of revenge—like bringing him the ugliest croissant she can find every morning. What starts as a battle of wills slowly shifts when Carla discovers Héctor struggles with anxiety attacks. Seeing him vulnerable changes her perception, and before she knows it, she starts enjoying her job. Though, of course, she still makes sure to bring him the most hideous croissant available.
Slowly, their relationship evolves. They learn to understand each other, support one another in their lowest moments, and—much to their surprise—feel an undeniable attraction. They try to ignore it, but at a company party, the tension finally snaps, and they end up in bed together. They decide not to overthink it: Carla doesn’t trust Héctor’s playboy reputation, and Héctor doesn’t want commitments. But emotions surface, and Carla’s insecurities make her hesitate, especially when misunderstandings involving her ex arise. Meanwhile, Héctor retreats into his usual distant persona, making things unbearable until Carla decides to return to her old position.
Missing her more than he expected, Héctor finally confesses to Max that his fear of being with Carla stems from guilt over his late wife’s death. He tried to save her from cancer but feels like he failed. Encouraged by Max, he decides to face his fears and, for the first time, opens up to Carla. He admits his fear of commitment but also his desire to be with her and his decision to start therapy.
In the end, Carla and Héctor make their relationship official, shocking the entire office, while Max celebrates his matchmaking success.
In Everything We Don’t See, Sira and Gabriel have been coworkers and close friends at Eventos Luxe for a long time. Sira has always been in love with him, but Gabriel remains fixated on his ex, Andrea, convinced they’ll get back together someday. When Gabriel receives an invitation to Andrea’s wedding, Max—proud of his skills as a matchmaker—suggests he take Sira as his fake date. Though hesitant at first, they agree. What could go wrong?
To make their story believable, they agree to pretend they recently started dating and, after a few weeks, will amicably “break up.” They practice dancing, kissing, and couple-like gestures, and to their surprise, something sparks between them. Gabriel realizes he enjoys kissing Sira more than he expected… but she only sees him as a friend, right?
At the wedding, Gabriel struggles as he watches Andrea marry someone else, but Sira distracts him with jokes and dancing—until they share an intense kiss that completely strays from their script. Unfortunately, a nosy coworker sees them and spreads the news at work. Now forced to keep up the charade, they must continue acting as a couple.
A company trip to the Pyrenees and a passionate night together heighten their confusion. Gabriel fears losing their friendship, while Sira wonders if he’s just “playing pretend.” Her doubts grow until she sees Gabriel talking to Andrea.
Just as they are about to confess their true feelings, Sira overhears Gabriel talking to his ex and misinterprets the conversation, believing he still wants Andrea back. Heartbroken, she leaves him a message: she’s quitting the company, she loves him, and she never wants to see him again.
Sira takes a job on a cruise ship, and just as she’s about to set sail, Gabriel—alerted by her brother—shows up with a megaphone, publicly declaring his love. In a reflex reaction, they both jump into the water to reunite, though the coast guard is already waiting for them at the dock. Luckily, Sira’s lawyer brother handles the legal consequences. Anything for love, right?
