In the future world, it is carried out an experiment to travel back in time. In the past to which the experiment is carried out, there are two brothers, Vicente and Mario, separated after the war. Over the years, the former has a good social position and the latter is miserable. The interest of both brothers for Encarna (the secretary who maintains a relationship with Vicente, although she loves Mario) will tighten the situation even more.

Buero Vallejo is the great theatrical author of the twentieth century. He won the Premio Miguel de Cervantes (1986) and the Premio Nacional de las Letras Españolas (1996).
