Amelia is a woman with a completely normal life: she is married, has a son and lives in the outskirts of a big city, in one of those infinite agglomerations of chalets surrounded by gardens. Her life is gray and monotonous, but a good morning her existence is changed when she learns that she is a zombie. Their condition is not strange in these times. For ten years the undead have been together with the living. The “disease” has become common and the treatment, routine. Although little can be done when your patient is already dead. Amelia will go from the shock of knowing that she is infected to hooking up with her doctor, who suffers (or rather enjoys) a curious paraphilia for zombies; will be kidnapped by an organization that assembles fights between the undead and traffics with human remains; and must face a possible end of the world. Amelia, a normal woman, will come to conquer her own life after death.
RELEVANT FACTS: The novel narrates how a zombie epidemy came to Earth aboard a meteorite and, after spreading across the planet, it stabilized. Quiroga presents us with a new world in which, after the initial alarm, the undead are treated as people with a chronic disease that, properly controlled and medicated, not only can live perfectly with the living, but constitute an important market niche for multinational pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food and leisure.
